VIDEOCAMERA LIVE

A live camera for restaurants and wineries

A guest who watches khinkali being folded, bread baking in a tone oven or grapes being pressed at harvest is quicker to book a table. A live camera shows exactly that — as long as it is pointed the right way.

What a live view does for a restaurant

  • Open kitchen — trust. Cleanliness and handmade food that the guest sees with their own eyes say more than words. It matters even more when people order for delivery.
  • Terrace and view. A terrace in Old Tbilisi, a seaside café in Batumi or a mountain restaurant overlooking a gorge — the camera shows the atmosphere and the weather, and whether the terrace is open.
  • Wine cellar and vineyard. In Kakheti — Telavi, Kvareli, Sighnaghi — wine tourists get to know a marani on its website first. The vineyard, the qvevri and the harvest days on a live stream bring both distant buyers and future visitors closer to you.
  • Bread, khinkali, mtsvadi. A tone oven, the khinkali table or the grill, live — the kind of shot people share on social media.

What to point the camera at — and what not

  • The kitchen work surface, from above: hands, dough, pots, plates. Faces do not need to be in the frame.
  • A wide view of the terrace or the scenery, where people at tables are not shown close up.
  • The qvevri in the cellar, the vineyard rows and the valley.
  • Not close-ups of tables, the till (cards and receipts), changing rooms, toilets, the staff room or the office.

Staff, guests and the law

Two groups end up in a restaurant's frame: staff, who work in front of the camera all day, and guests, who are relaxing. Georgia's Law on Personal Data Protection protects both:

  • Staff. Employees must be informed in writing about video monitoring at work. A public stream goes further than a security camera — it is wise to get their consent to appear on it too, and to frame the shot so faces are not shown.
  • Guests. Put a warning sign at the entrance saying the camera is live. Do not show tables close up — who dines with whom is a private matter.
  • Turn audio off in the camera. If the camera has a microphone, disable audio in its settings — then no sound reaches the stream and guests' conversations are never broadcast.

Cameras in the kitchen and the cellar

  • Steam and grease: do not mount the camera directly above the stove — grease settles on the lens. Mount it to the side, a little away, in an enclosed dome housing, and clean the lens regularly.
  • Light: kitchens are well lit; cellars and evening terraces are not. For low light, choose a camera that gives a colour picture in dim conditions — infrared night mode kills the atmosphere.
  • Humidity in the cellar: a marani is cool and damp, so an IP66/IP67 camera pays off there too.
  • Resolution: 2–4 MP is enough; 4 MP for a wide terrace view. See camera settings.

Internet

  • Our server connects to the camera over the internet: you need a public IP and a forwarded RTSP port. See port forwarding.
  • 1080p needs 3–4 Mbit/s of upload per camera. The number of viewers does not load your internet — our server serves them all.
  • Keep guest Wi-Fi separate: put cameras and the guest network on different segments.
  • Security: a separate view-only user, a changed default password, updated firmware; only the RTSP port open to the internet, never the camera's web interface.
  • Vineyards often have no internet. If the recorder is in the cellar, bring the vineyard camera to it by cable or a wireless bridge — or call us.

Features that fit

  • Schedules: the camera is live only during opening hours — the closed dining room and the clean-up are not on your site.
  • Live switch: pause the stream with one click during a private event, a wedding or a supra.
  • Logo editor: the restaurant or wine brand logo and a caption such as "Our tone oven, live".
  • Ad link: clicking the camera name opens your menu, table booking, delivery page or wine shop.
  • Allowed domains: embedding only on your own site. See protecting a stream.
  • WordPress plugin: WordPress plugin. H.265 cameras are converted automatically: H.265 in the browser.

How to start

  1. Create an account.
  2. Add the camera or recorder channel: see Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview or NVR/DVR recorders.
  3. Run the connection test and check the frame — no close-up faces or tables.
  4. Embed the player on your site, next to the menu: embedding on a website.

Is it legal to stream a kitchen where cooks are working?

Employees must be told in writing about video monitoring; for a public stream it is wise to have their consent as well and a frame where faces are not shown. See CCTV law in Georgia.

Will guests' conversations be broadcast?

Not if audio is off in the camera. On a camera with a microphone, disable audio in its settings — for a restaurant this is a must.

Can the camera be visible only during opening hours?

Yes. Set a viewing schedule, or use the Live switch whenever you need to.

Can we stream the grape harvest from the vineyard?

Yes, if internet reaches the camera in the vineyard and it is reachable from outside. For a temporary installation, call us and we will prepare it in advance.
