A live camera for beaches and seaside businesses
All summer, thousands of people ask the same question: what is the sea like today? A beach camera answers it — and brings the viewer to your website, your menu or your booking button.
Who needs a beach camera
On the Black Sea coast the weather changes fast: a calm sea in the morning, waves at midday, rain in the evening. Tourists coming from Tbilisi or Yerevan, local swimmers and surfers all check the sea before they set off. Whoever shows them the picture gets their attention.
- Seaside hotels and apartments in Batumi, Chakvi, Gonio and Kobuleti: a view from the balcony that justifies the booking.
- Beach bars and restaurants: the stream shows the place is alive, and clicking the camera name opens your menu or table booking.
- Ureki and Anaklia: families planning a week or two see the beach and the sea in advance.
- Municipalities and tourist centres: a view of the boulevard and seafront on the city's website or tourist portal. See city cameras.
What to point the camera at
- The horizon and the waves: the state of the sea is the key information. Make a third of the frame sky and two thirds sea and shore.
- A wide view: the beach should read as an overall picture — busy or empty — not as individual people.
- Not close-ups of sunbathers, changing cabins, showers or the children's area.
- Sun direction: the coast faces west, so the evening sun is right in the frame. Sunsets are beautiful, but aim slightly to the side and turn on WDR so the picture does not wash out.
Salt, sun and humidity
- Housing: IP66/IP67 and corrosion-resistant mounts — salty air rusts ordinary steel in a single season. Use stainless steel screws.
- Lens cleaning: salt and dust settle on the glass in a thin film and blur the picture. Clean the lens regularly during the season.
- Heat: do not mount the camera in direct sun — a sun shield or a shaded wall keeps the housing cooler.
- Thunderstorms: on the coast, lightning protection and grounding are what save the cable and the switch.
- Resolution: 4 MP is enough; for a wide sea-and-sky view good WDR matters more. See camera settings.
Internet and seasonal traffic
In summer the number of viewers multiplies — and it does not touch your internet. We take one stream from the camera and our server serves every viewer. You only need upload for that one stream: 1–2 Mbit/s for 720p, 3–4 Mbit/s for 1080p.
- The camera must be reachable from outside: a public IP and a forwarded RTSP port. See port forwarding.
- A beach bar often has only mobile internet, which comes without a public IP. The answer is fixed internet or a static public IP — or call us.
- Seasonal places lose power in winter. Pause the stream with the Live switch beforehand so your site does not show a confusing error.
- Security: a separate view-only user, a changed default password, updated firmware; only the RTSP port open to the internet, never the camera's web interface.
Holidaymakers and the law
People on the beach are in swimwear and do not expect to be watched online. That makes it the most sensitive scene of all: mount the camera high and far away, facing the sea rather than the people, and put up a warning sign. More detail: CCTV law in Georgia.
Features that fit
- Logo editor: the bar, hotel or resort logo and a caption such as "Gonio, live". Text changes reach viewers within seconds.
- Ad link on the camera name: your menu, table booking or room page.
- Hide branding: only your brand appears in the player.
- Schedules: show the camera only in daylight, or only during the bar's opening hours.
- Allowed domains: a beautiful sea view tends to get copied. Allow embedding on your own site only. See protecting a stream.
- WordPress plugin: WordPress plugin.
How to start

Will thousands of summer viewers overload my internet?
No. We take one stream from the camera and our server serves the viewers. If you expect a very large audience, let us know in advance.
Should I switch the camera off in winter?
You can pause the stream with the Live switch. The embed code on your site stays the same, and you turn it back on in spring.
Can the camera be watched only on my website?
Yes. List your allowed domains — the embed code stops working anywhere else.
Does it work on phones?
Yes, the player works in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, on phones too — no app needed.
